Menstrual Disorders Treatment

Treatments for menorrhagia and its related conditions include medications to help alleviate symptoms.

Over-the-counter medication like Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen and Naproxen are commonly given to women experiencing symptoms. These pain relievers help with managing cramps and other pains.

  • Medications
  • Endometrial Ablation
  • Oral contraceptives

Endometrial ablation treatment permanently hinders the endometrium’s (lining of uterus) ability to grow. The minimally invasive procedure helps periods return to normal, makes them lighter, or stops them completely. Women can freely return to normal activity the next day. However, this treatment is not intended for women who wish to become pregnant in the future.

Oral contraceptives are another option to treat menstrual disorders. These medications are aimed at regulating and managing menstrual periods and reduce heavy bleeding. In the event more is needed to treat menstrual disorders, endometrial ablation and hysterectomy may be considered when necessary.
